Uppsala University is partner in the Erasmus+ Capacity Building project NIZAMI which aims at reforming doctoral studies in Azerbaijan in line with European standards. Coordinated by the University of Montpellier, the consortium brings together ten universities from Azerbaijan and six from Europe as well as the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan. Over the course of three years (2015-2018), the project organizes a series of conferences to discuss future perspectives and recommendations for a national reform of doctoral studies in Azerbaijan. Uppsala University is in charge of coordinating a work package on internationalization. From September 26-28 the International Office and the Uppsala Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies host the NIZAMI project for a meeting in Uppsala. The topics to be discussed are internationalization, quality standards and structuring doctoral education. UCRS researcher Dr. Sofie Bedford takes part in the workshop as a member of Uppsala’s group of experts and advisors for Nizami. Vice-Chancellor Eva Åkesson will open the conference with a speech on Monday, September 26.
